I have already completed my mid-term in Paiova Brasov and this means that more than half of my
voluntary service has already elapsed. This training was really designed to take stock of our project,
our life and the changes in our way of seeing things. It was also an opportunity to visit Brasov and
meet new volunteers. It made me realize how fast time has passed since I arrived in Romania. I was
also able to analyse everything I have been able to do so far.
The mid-term marked a turning point in our activities within the association, since our return we
celebrated the end of the school with the graduation ceremonies in Bicaz and Oarta. We were able
to participate in the festivities of the 8th grades and see how our Romanian friends are celebrating
this very important event, who means a lot to them.
It was a moment I really enjoyed. For a
Frenchman like me, celebrating the end of the year in a « ballroom » with a huge cake, in company
of the classmates, family and teachers, can seem excessive. But it is precisely this kind of differences that tend to surprise me and that I appreciate most. For me, this Romanian experience is very exotic
in some aspects. Yet on many points I perceive similarities and our European identity makes sense.
European voluntary service is also an opportunity to travel and discover new things. Since my
arrival I have been able to travel through Romania, discover beautiful landscapes, make visits...
This time I went to Athens for the weekend, with a group of 7 other young volunteers. It was a great
trip. I like everything related to mythology, so necesseraly I could only appreciate the Greek
monuments that occupy the city.
Now it is time for the last two months of our volunteer work, where we will carry out other fun
activities, open to all, in the villages where we have been working since the beginning of our
volunteer service, but also in Baia Mare. We look forward to your participation throughout the
summer!
