Reflection on the European Picnic

 As you know, last Friday we were on Campul Tineretului with other volunteers from YMCA and Somaschi sharing European values while promoting the vote for the European Union elections.

Besides having some amazing European food, we also planned and took an EU board game to fight the lack of information about the European Union and raise awareness about the voting process. To show that with voting our voice is heard, we encouraged people to write down their opinion about the European Union and to be part of a “Yes or No” poll with some current topics.

With this event, we were able to understand a little more of the political and ideological situation in Romania. From witnessing a discussion between supporters of opposite political parties to observe some reaction when reading our questions especially the “Should gay marriage be legal in every country in the EU?”.

Overall, the event was successful with a lot of positive adherence from the public in an afternoon of civic involvement, community feeling and shared moments.
